West Hillhurst is nestled on the north bank of the Bow River, between 18th St and 28th St, and south of the hill which leads up to St Andrew's Heights and Briar Hill. It isn't just surrounded by impressive vistas and walking trails - it's jeweled with off-leash dog parks, playgrounds, quality schools, and most importantly...ice cream/gelato stores, namely Amato on Kensington.
Despite its location on the river, we're relatively safe from flooding, according to the Alberta Government flood hazard map, on account of flood defences along this section of Memorial Drive. We also love that West Hillhurst is also well connected to the rest of the city by Crowchild Trail.
Yes, in urban (inner city) real estate, the natural geography of any community is crucial to supporting value, and so are shops, restaurants & amenities. The Foothills hospital complex, Children's Hospital (to which we donate through the Children's Miracle Network), and Tom Baker Cancer Centre, crest the hill to the northwest, and the downtown area is a (flat) 5km bike ride away to the east. Downtown Calgary still supports Alberta's Energy industry and offers large volumes of well-paid engineering/accounting/legal positions, but also a nascent/growing technology industry. This northwest neighbourhood is quite literally surrounded by sources of high-income jobs.
