Now there’s an affordable housing option. This could mean more frequent trips to Balzac Craft Brewing 🤔 (excellent local brewpub).
Duplexes are properties that are attached to one other titled property. They are also known as semi-detached because they are detached-kind-of-not-really.
Most of Airdrie’s duplexes are newer. In many cases, local home builders, like Shane Homes or Excel Homes, will take a detached floorplan and build it with a partition wall to the same floorplan. Oftentimes, by purchasing, you are literally getting the same home as a detached home, with the only difference being you share a wall with your neighbor.
Airdrie is affordable & it’s well connected to employment opportunities in Calgary and the Calgary Airport Corridor. If you’re on a budget (new to Canada, for example), you might choose a duplex in Airdrie because it’s going to be a safer investment than a large detached home, plus, those mortgage payments are smaller. The newer the duplex the less sound you’ll hear from neighbors. That being said, street parking & community feel can be impacted when there are lots of dwellings in a neighborhood.
A lot of the duplexes you will find below, are in newer areas, for example, Luxstone and Bayside. The later, often include attached garages. Check out Bayside by the way - it’s unique because of the canals.
